What to do in Costa Brava: activities and experiences
There are different activities that you can do in Cost Brava in order to enjoy its environment and climate.
Kayak routes and snorkelling
If you love the sea, a good way of visiting different coves and do exercise is in a kayak route. This way, always with caution and a guide, you can reach places that are inaccessible by foot. They are also some beaches that are recommended for snorkelling, such as Cala Illa Roja (Begur) or Cala del Senyor Ramon (Santa Cristina d’Aro).
Hiking on Camino de Ronda
Along the coast line of Costa Brava there is a narrow coastal track that goes through the cliffs and has amazing views to the sea: it’s Camino de Ronda. You have indications in some coastal towns, so you can make a short route or a longer and more complete one.
Scenic flight
It is possible to see Costa Brava from the heights, from the sky, thanks to a scenic flight. The most specialized zone is Empuriabrava. There are different options depending on the grade of adventure you want to live. On the one hand, you can fly by helicopter or plane. On the other hand, there is the option of paragliding or parachute jumping.
Sunrise in Cap de Creus
Did you know that Cap de Creus is the most eastern point in the Iberian Peninsula? Here you’ll be able to enjoy a breathtaking sunrise, with the sun rising over the sea. You can go to one of the coves around Cadaqués or to its lighthouse and soak up the magic and peace of the moment.
Best restaurants in Costa Brava
Costa Brava can also be enjoyed through flavours. Among the extensive gastronomic offer, we can highlight these restaurants:
Michelin star restaurants
In Tossa de Mar, one of the most beautiful towns in Costa Brava, you can taste the preparations of La Cuina de Can Simón, a restaurant with one Michelin star.
Inland, in Peralada, 9 km from Figueres, we find Castell de Peralada, a restaurant also with a Michelin star. Furthermore, it is located inside an amazing castle from the 14th century.
Charming restaurants
In Sant Antoni de Calogne, near Palamós, it is La Tastaolletes, a signature-cuisine kitchen with a truly unique menu. If you want to have lunch with a nice view of the sea, you can have it in Tragamar, in Calella de Palafrugell, a restaurant specialized in fish and seafood. Another option is the restaurant Sa Tuna, in Begur.
A different suggestion is Mooma, in Palau-Sator. Moomar is a cider house located in a masía, a Catalan country house, surrounded by apple trees. In its menu we can find tapas, rice, grilled meat and fish, etc. It is vegan friendly.
Best beach bars in Costa Brava
If you want to have lunch or a drink in a casual way, there is nothing like the chiringuitos or beach bars we have in Costa Brava. One of the most popular is Toc al Mar, in Playa Aiguablava, Begur. Also in Cala Pelosa, Roses, is the beach bar La Pelosa.
Moreover, for having a cold drink, we can go to Chiringuito CHE, in Sant Pere Pescador, where from time to time there is live music. Another option is Xiringuito-X, in Castelló d’Empuries, that also has a music programme.
It must be taken into account that some of these locals just open during the summer season, so we recommend you to confirm if they are open before you go.
